Compromising When Going Green
Posted on March 11, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Is it just too much to give up paper towels? Or use CFL light bulbs? Or use a reusable shopping bag?
It’s ok. Going “cold turkey” isn’t right for everyone. There are reasonable compromises like using fewer paper towels, or replacing most lamps with CFL bulbs or making sure you keep a reusable shopping bag in your trunk in case you decide to go shopping.
How do you ‘go green’?
Exercise for Success

Want to know a secret for exercise success? Try mixing up your workouts for more fun, variety and you can make sure your body doesn’t “know what’s coming.”
Most exercisers hit their plateu because they are doing the exact same workout. Their muscles start to get used to the movements, and pretty soon they aren’t working out as hard. Avoid that from happening by mixing up your routine. Maybe take a walk after work one day, and the next day do an early morning yoga DVD. Challenge your mind and your muscles for better results.
What are some of your workout secrets?
Topsy Turvy Destinations

Are you looking for a unique vacation destination? Apparently, there are plenty around the U.S. to choose from. There’s the 160-room mansion in San Jose, CA named the Winchester Mystery House, a museum in Peaks Island, Maine entirely devoted to the umbrella cover and a 37,000 square-foot, two-level maze in South Dakota.
There are actually more unique destinations than that. Around the U.S. there are gardens, music festivals and museums devoted to the craziest things. I checked out the websites to these places, and they are even unusual.

To honor the memory of Northgate High School Senior Trevor Tonsing, five bands will give a benefit concert this Saturday, March 6 at Red House Studios in Walnut Creek for the American Heart Association. Trevor passed in December from heart-related problems.
The five metal bands, Truth Decays, Aeon of Death, Necrosin, Apothesary and Trippin’ Flys will all perform, and the show begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 and the door, but attendees can donate more if they like.
Will you go to the show or donate?
Keep Your kitchen Together

No, you don’t have to be “Martha Stewart” organized in the kitchen, but a little order won’t hurt. With just a few organizational steps, you can turn your kitchen from “drab” to “fab.”
Start your kitchen overhaul by tossing out old pots, pans and other things you don’t use anymore. By keeping these things, you’re just creating unnecessary clutter. Give your extra things to charity, friends, or family. I was more than happy to inherit some extra casserole dishes my mom had. Spread the love.
Other tips include replace things that don’t work, store things you use the most nearby, clear clutter on the counter, and try a lazy Susan to organize spices in the cupboard. There are other organizational tips for you to try, too.
I am a stickler for a clean kitchen and I clean out the refrigerator and do the dishes daily. What are your tips?
Whoa! Chocolate Peeps?

Ok, I will admit when I first heard that Peeps were going to come chocolate-covered this year, I thought that it sounded gross. Now that I have all of the information, I think it will be pretty tasty.
Chocolate covered peeps will not be the pink sugar coated peeps, but just chocolate covered marshmallows (but the marshmallows will be tinted yellow). I love chocolate covered marshmallow candies, so I am pretty sure I will love these chocolate covered peeps. What are your thoughts?
No worries, the regular peeps will be available this year, too.
Reuse Those Old Dishes

Wait! Before you head to Goodwill (I hope you were heading to Goodwill), check out these tips on how to reuse old, mismatched dishes. Some of these ideas are pretty awesome. I could see myself repurposing old plates into mirrors, and I think it would be a pretty neat idea to draw and decorate your own tea set.
What do you think? What do you do with old dishes?
